Tips on how to take care of your bike before Vätternrundan

  1. Check that your handlebar tape or grips are in good condition. You’ll be spending many hours with your hands on the handlebars, so this is a simple and affordable way to improve both comfort and safety. For extra comfort and protection in case of a fall, a pair of ventilated, padded gloves is also recommended.
  2. Inspect the condition of both your tires and inner tubes. The rubber should not be dry or show cracks or punctures. Avoid riding with patched inner tubes – a new, fresh tube performs better over many miles around Vättern.
  3. Go through your bike accessories such as bottle cages, saddle bag, bell, and lights/reflectors. Make sure everything is properly secured so you don’t lose anything along the way.

Tips on how to take care of your bike after Vätternrundan

  1. Clean your bike thoroughly, including the drivetrain (chain, cassette, and chainrings), and lubricate it after washing to keep it in good condition for your next ride.
  2. If you have a bike with electronic shifting, take the opportunity to charge the batteries.
  3. If you were unlucky and got a flat tire during Vätternrundan, restock your saddle bag with a new spare inner tube and a CO₂ cartridge so you’re prepared for your next ride.
