New roads and new experiences, on gravel

On September 12, Vätternrundan Gravel makes its debut – a 120 km recreational ride through the scenic landscapes of Östergötland. A course that takes you along the Göta Canal, through forests and across open countryside – where every section has its own character. Do you want to be one of those standing on the start line as the next chapter in Vätternrundan’s history is written? Sign up before April 22 to receive a pioneer discount.

Variation from start to finish

The approximately 120 km course takes you through stunning scenery southeast of Motala, on a varied surface that makes every part of the ride unique. Start and finish are at Baltzar von Platen’s grave, where the route begins along Lake Boren towards Borensberg before continuing into a landscape that shifts between canal, forest and open countryside.

Along the way, you ride more than 20 km beside the calm waters of the Göta Canal, pass the locks at Borenshult and Berg, and continue through the Stjärnorp area with views of northern Lake Roxen. Pastures, forest lakes and winding gravel roads follow one another, creating a course with both rhythm and variety.

The surface consists of approximately 70% gravel, 29% asphalt and a short stretch of trail – a mix that suits most bikes, though gravel, MTB or cyclocross will give you the best experience. Along the course, six depots offer opportunities to refuel and take in the surroundings before continuing back towards the finish in Motala.
