Bike Week – the first weekend
Friday, June 5 marks the opening of Bike week 2026. That’s when the celebrations begin for a festival that isn’t just for those taking part in one of the rides, but for anyone who enjoys community, events, and fun activities. MTB-Vättern, Tjejvättern 100 km, Halvvättern 150 km, Vätternrundan 100 km and Minivättern – come cheer on the riders or simply enjoy a cycling festival for all ages!
The first weekend of Bike week is made for a fun and cozy family getaway. Whether you're taking part in one of the longer rides or joining the children’s Minivättern, it’s a great and enjoyable start to a week that culminates with the 315 km Vätternrundan the following weekend.
– Bike week is a huge showcase for our entire region and an event we are very proud of, says Oskar Sundblad, CEO of Vätternrundan.
– And considering that we’re seeing a significant increase in registrations this year compared to last year, I expect even more cheers, music, encouragement, surprises and excitement along the route. That also applies to our shorter rides.

The second weekend of Bike week
The second weekend of Bike week is not only the biggest cycling weekend of the year – it is also a tradition that brings thousands of people together around a shared experience.
Whether you are cycling around Lake Vättern, cheering from the sidelines or simply enjoying the atmosphere, a weekend awaits where cycling takes centre stage from morning to evening.
– One tip is to be in Motala to watch the start show. That’s when the pulse really starts to rise – for both participants and spectators, says Jessica Nilsson, Sponsorship Manager at Vätternrundan.
On Friday, 12 June, the whole of Motala will be buzzing with anticipation, butterflies and excitement. And you don’t have to be a cyclist to experience the thrill and charm of Vätternrundan 315 km. Around the race, and along almost the entire route around the lake, a cycling festival will unfold with a vibrant atmosphere, music, activities and encounters between people who all want to cheer on and encourage the cyclists.
– The main public celebration takes place in Motala, with performances, an expo, a funfair, activities and places to buy great food. But there will also be activities at our depots all around the lake, says Jessica.
– And visiting Motala and being there for the starts is an experience in itself. You can really feel the atmosphere. And as I said, the start show will be something extra…
Smart interactive maps
If you are unable to visit Motala but still want to be part of the cycling festival from another location, a good tip is to visit Vätternrundan’s interactive maps. Here you will find all the information about where participants can get a massage, service their bike or refuel with much-needed food. As a spectator, you can also find the best places to watch the cyclists near where you live.
On Vätternrundan’s website, you will also find everything you need to know about the race and Bike week. There is Vätternrundan’s FAQ, where you can find activities and answers to frequently asked questions, as well as Vätternrundan’s interactive maps, where you can see, for example, which brands will be on site and suitable places to follow the race.
– For those who are not cycling, our website provides a perfect overview of activities and the best places to follow the race – tailored to what suits you, says Jessica.
Nordic Bike Expo
Bike week brings together 25,000 participants, 100,000 visitors and cyclists from nearly 70 nations. At the heart of this cycling celebration is Nordic Bike Expo, a natural meeting place for the entire cycling industry.
The exhibition, which takes over the entire harbour area in Motala on June 5–6 and June 11–13, attracts cycling enthusiasts from all over and, of course, showcases a wide range of bikes.
