THE FIRST CYCLING WEEKEND IS OVER
The weekend was a success. Tjejvättern was run in almost full sunshine (except for the morning) and the mood was terrific. Halvvättern offered up more modest weather, but almost everyone was satisfied, from participants to the organizer.
The participants are happy, the relatives are happy and the organizer is happy. The first weekend of Bicycle Week cannot be characterised as anything but a success. From the organizer’s side, everything went off without a hitch, and Vätternrundan’s GM Eva-Lena Frick is very satisfied.
- It’s been two rides with good conditions and the cyclists have been incredible, and they in turn have praised the functionaries and us.
The participants’ satisfaction is evident from the numerous comments that have been on posted on the Facebook pages for Vätternrundan and Tjejvättern. On Vätternrundan’s page, which includes Halvvättern, the weekend’s 6 updates received over 500 positive posts, while the 5 updates on Tjejvättern received more than 250 posts. And the posts just keep coming.
Not only are the participants spreading almost exclusively words of praise about the rides and its organisation, but also everything involving the rides. One comment from Tjejvättern’s page, “Thanks for a terrific event! Nice functionaries and great service! I’m impressed and will be back next year!” And several others congratulated the contributions from the cheering crowds along the course.
Saturday offered up wonderful cycling weather with the exception of a few local rain showers, and in certain places, short hail showers. But most of the girls were happy and only 17 abandoned the ride.
Halvvättern, however, had slightly rougher weather with more rain and some looked very cold when they crossed the finish line. During Halvvättern, 110 abandoned, but even here, more were satisfied.
There were numerous sponsors in Stadsparken and many braved the rain and checked out the tents, with a steady number of people around the finish area.
- A good weekend like this just gives you a taste for more, says Eva-Lena Frick, and we’re really ready for next week.
